Do not boast so proudly,

Hannah warns that self-exaltation invites God’s opposition. Pride refuses to recognize that strength, position, and success come from the Lord. Her words anticipate the downfall of all who, like Eli’s sons, presume upon sacred privileges while despising God’s commands.

Proud speech exposes a heart that trusts itself rather than God. Israel’s leaders and surrounding nations often gloried in military power, wealth, or rank, yet the Lord had repeatedly commanded His people to remember that every provision came from His hand. Humble speech reflects dependence upon Him.

The Lord fully knew Hannah’s grief, Eli’s household corruption, and the hidden conduct of every person in Israel. No injustice escaped His notice, and no secret sin remained concealed before Him. His perfect knowledge comforts the faithful and warns the rebellious.

and by Him actions are weighed.
