2 Chronicles 27:6
So Jotham grew powerful because he ordered his ways before the LORD his God.
So Jotham grew powerful

Jotham’s strength included military security, national stability, and the capacity to build and govern wisely. He continued much of the prosperity Judah had known under Uzziah, strengthening Jerusalem’s defenses, building cities in the hill country, and prevailing over the Ammonites. Unlike his father, whose pride brought divine judgment, Jotham did not allow success to draw him away from God.

Deu 8:18 But remember that it is the LORD your God…

because he ordered his ways

Jotham deliberately directed his life and reign according to God’s standards. His leadership was marked by purposeful obedience rather than self-reliance. Although the people of Judah continued in corrupt practices (2 Chronicles 27:2), the king himself maintained a faithful course before God, showing that personal integrity remains essential even amid widespread spiritual decline.

Pro 4:26 Make a level path for your feet, and all your ways…
Pro 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths…

before the LORD his God.

Jotham lived with reverence for the God who had established David’s throne and governed Judah’s future. His power was not merely the result of political skill or military preparation; it came through God’s favor upon a ruler who recognized divine authority. His reign illustrates that lasting strength is rooted in walking faithfully before the Lord.

Jotham
'So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.'--2 CHRON. xxvii 6. This King Jotham is one of the obscurer of the Jewish monarchs, and we know next to nothing about him. The most memorable event in his reign is that 'in the year when King Uzziah,' his father, 'died,' and consequently in Jotham's first year, Isaiah saw the Lord sitting in the Temple on the empty throne, and had the lips which were to utter so many immortal words touched with fire from the altar. Chronicles
The comparative indifference with which Chronicles is regarded in modern times by all but professional scholars seems to have been shared by the ancient Jewish church. Though written by the same hand as wrote Ezra-Nehemiah, and forming, together with these books, a continuous history of Judah, it is placed after them in the Hebrew Bible, of which it forms the concluding book; and this no doubt points to the fact that it attained canonical distinction later than they. Nor is this unnatural. The book
