Longevity

In the biblical context, longevity is often seen as a blessing from God, associated with righteousness, obedience, and the fear of the Lord. The Scriptures frequently link a long life with adherence to God's commandments and wisdom. In the Old Testament, the patriarchs such as Adam, Methuselah, and Noah are noted for their extended lifespans, which are seen as a testament to their closeness to God and the divine favor they received.

One of the key verses that associate longevity with obedience is found in the Ten Commandments: "Honor your father and mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you" (Exodus 20:12). This commandment underscores the principle that respecting parental authority and maintaining family harmony can lead to a prolonged life.

The Book of Proverbs also emphasizes the connection between wisdom and longevity: "For by wisdom your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life" (Proverbs 9:11). Here, wisdom is portrayed as a life-giving force, suggesting that living according to God's wisdom can result in a longer, more fulfilling life.

In the New Testament, while the focus shifts more towards eternal life through Jesus Christ, the principle of living a life pleasing to God as a means to experience His blessings, including longevity, remains. The Apostle Paul reiterates the commandment with a promise in Ephesians 6:2-3 : "Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on the earth."

Security

Security in the Bible is often depicted as a state of being under God's protection and provision. It is not merely physical safety but encompasses spiritual and emotional well-being. The Psalms frequently express the idea of God as a refuge and fortress for His people. Psalm 91:1-2 declares, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'"

The concept of security is closely tied to trust in God and His promises. In Proverbs 3:5-6 , believers are encouraged to "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." This passage highlights the assurance that comes from relying on God's wisdom and guidance rather than human understanding.

In the New Testament, Jesus speaks of a deeper security found in Him. In John 10:28-29 , He assures His followers, "I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand. My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand." This promise of eternal security underscores the ultimate protection and assurance found in a relationship with Christ.

The Apostle Paul also speaks of the peace and security that come from being in Christ. In Philippians 4:6-7 , he writes, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." This peace is a form of security that transcends circumstances, rooted in the believer's trust in God's sovereignty and care.

Overall, the Bible presents longevity and security as blessings that flow from a life lived in accordance with God's will, characterized by obedience, wisdom, and trust in His promises.
