Definition and Context
Luxuriousness refers to the indulgence in and pursuit of comfort, wealth, and extravagant living. Old Testament References

James, the brother of Jesus, also warns the rich about the fleeting nature of their wealth and the judgment that awaits those who live in luxury and self-indulgence. James 5:1-5 declares, "Come now, you who are rich, weep and wail over the misery to come upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and consume your flesh like fire. You have hoarded treasure in the last days. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened your hearts in the day of slaughter."

Theological Implications
Luxuriousness is often seen as a manifestation of idolatry, where material wealth and comfort become substitutes for God. The Bible consistently calls believers to a life of simplicity, contentment, and generosity.
