In the context of the Bible, "notices" can refer to the act of observing, paying attention to, or acknowledging something or someone. This concept is woven throughout Scripture, where God, individuals, and communities are depicted as taking notice of various events, actions, and people. The act of noticing often carries significant theological and moral implications, reflecting divine awareness, human responsibility, and communal accountability.

Divine Notice

God's ability to notice and be aware of all things is a central theme in the Bible. This divine attribute underscores God's omniscience and His intimate involvement with creation. In the Psalms, David expresses confidence in God's attentive care: "The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their cry" (Psalm 34:15). This verse highlights God's active engagement with His people, assuring them that their struggles and prayers do not go unnoticed.

Similarly, in the New Testament, Jesus emphasizes God's detailed awareness of His creation: "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered" (Matthew 10:29-30). This passage reassures believers of God's meticulous care and attention to every aspect of their lives.

Human Notice

The Bible also addresses the importance of humans taking notice of God's works, commandments, and the needs of others. In the Old Testament, the Israelites are repeatedly called to remember and observe God's laws and deeds. For instance, in Deuteronomy 4:9, Moses instructs the people: "Only be on your guard and diligently watch yourselves, so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen, and so that they do not slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren" . This call to notice and remember serves as a foundation for faithfulness and obedience.

In the New Testament, Jesus often calls His followers to be observant and discerning. In the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37), Jesus illustrates the importance of noticing and responding to the needs of others. The Samaritan, unlike the priest and the Levite, takes notice of the injured man and acts with compassion, embodying the love and mercy that Jesus teaches.

Communal Notice

Communities in the Bible are also depicted as entities that must take notice of collective responsibilities and the welfare of their members. The early church, as described in the Book of Acts, exemplifies this communal awareness. Acts 2:44-45 states, "All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they shared with anyone who was in need" . This passage reflects a community that notices and addresses the needs within its midst, fostering unity and mutual support.

Furthermore, the epistles often encourage believers to be vigilant and supportive of one another. Hebrews 10:24-25 exhorts, "And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching" . This call to notice and encourage one another underscores the importance of communal vigilance and edification in the Christian life.

In summary, the concept of "notices" in the Bible encompasses divine awareness, human responsibility, and communal accountability. It serves as a reminder of God's intimate involvement with His creation and the call for believers to be attentive to His works, commandments, and the needs of others.
