Truth

In the biblical context, truth is a fundamental attribute of God and a cornerstone of Christian faith. The Bible presents truth as absolute, unchanging, and divinely revealed. In the Old Testament, truth is often associated with God's faithfulness and reliability. For instance, in Deuteronomy 32:4, God is described as "a God of truth and without iniquity; just and right is He."

In 1 Timothy 4:8, Paul writes, "For physical exercise is of limited value, but godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for the present life and for the one to come."

Godliness is closely linked with the knowledge of truth. In Titus 1:1, Paul introduces himself as "a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God’s elect and the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness." This connection suggests that understanding and embracing divine truth naturally leads to a godly life.

The characteristics of godliness include righteousness, holiness, and devotion to God. In 2 Peter 1:3, it is stated, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence." This verse emphasizes that godliness is not achieved through human effort alone but through divine empowerment and knowledge of God.

Godliness also involves a commitment to good works and moral integrity. In 1 Timothy 6:11, believers are urged to "pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness." This pursuit is a lifelong journey, marked by growth in spiritual maturity and a deepening relationship with God.
