who saw a man leaving and said to him, "Show us how to get into the city, and we won't hurt you."

When the spies saw a man coming out of the city, they said to him, “Show us the way into the city, and we will deal kindly with you.”

While the spies were watching the town, a man came out, and they told him, "If you show us how our army can get into the town, we will make sure that you aren't harmed."
