I have heard a rebuke that insults me, and my understanding prompts a reply. Context 3I listened to the reproof which insults me,And the spirit of my understanding makes me answer. 4Do you know this from of old, 5That the triumphing of the wicked is short, 6Though his loftiness reaches the heavens, 7He perishes forever like his refuse; 8He flies away like a dream, and they cannot find him; 9The eye which saw him sees him no longer, 10His sons favor the poor, 11His bones are full of his youthful vigor, 12Though evil is sweet in his mouth 13Though he desires it and will not let it go, 14Yet his food in his stomach is changed 15He swallows riches, 16He sucks the poison of cobras; 17He does not look at the streams, 18He returns what he has attained 19For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor; 20Because he knew no quiet within him, 21Nothing remains for him to devour, 22In the fullness of his plenty he will be cramped; 23When he fills his belly, 24He may flee from the iron weapon, 25It is drawn forth and comes out of his back, 26Complete darkness is held in reserve for his treasures, 27The heavens will reveal his iniquity, 28The increase of his house will depart; 29This is the wicked mans portion from God, Links Job 20:3 NIVJob 20:3 NLT Job 20:3 ESV Job 20:3 NASB Job 20:3 KJV Job 20:3 Commentaries Bible Hub |
