Berean Study Bible | Christian Standard Bible |
Brothers, if someone is caught in a trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him with a spirit of gentleness. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. | 1Brothers and sisters, if someone is overtaken in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual, restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so that you also won't be tempted. |
Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. | 2Carry one another's burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. |
If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. | 3For if anyone considers himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. |
Each one should test his own work. Then he will have reason to boast in himself alone, and not in someone else. | 4Let each person examine his own work, and then he can take pride in himself alone, and not compare himself with someone else. |
For each one should carry his own load. | 5For each person will have to carry his own load. |
Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word must share in all good things with his instructor. | 6Let the one who is taught the word share all his good things with the teacher. |
Do not be deceived: God is not to be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return. | 7Don't be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a person sows he will also reap, |
The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. | 8because the one who sows to his flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. |
Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. | 9Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up. |
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to the family of faith. | 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith. |
See what large letters I am using to write to you with my own hand! | 11Look at what large letters I use as I write to you in my own handwriting. |
Those who want to make a good impression outwardly are trying to compel you to be circumcised. They only do this to avoid persecution for the cross of Christ. | 12Those who want to make a good impression in the flesh are the ones who would compel you to be circumcised--but only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. |
For the circumcised do not even keep the law themselves, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. | 13For even the circumcised don't keep the law themselves, and yet they want you to be circumcised in order to boast about your flesh. |
But as for me, may I never boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. | 14But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world. |
For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything. What counts is a new creation. | 15For both circumcision and uncircumcision mean nothing; what matters instead is a new creation. |
Peace and mercy to all who walk by this rule, even to the Israel of God. | 16May peace come to all those who follow this standard, and mercy even to the Israel of God! |
From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. | 17From now on, let no one cause me trouble, because I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. |
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen. | 18Brothers and sisters, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. |
