For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.1For the choir director. A Davidic psalm. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims the work of His hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.2Day after day they pour out speech; night after night they communicate knowledge.
Without speech or language, without a sound to be heard,3There is no speech; there are no words; their voice is not heard.
their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun.4Their message has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun.
Like a bridegroom emerging from his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course,5It is like a groom coming from the bridal chamber; it rejoices like an athlete running a course.
it rises at one end of the heavens and runs its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.6It rises from one end of the heavens and circles to their other end; nothing is hidden from its heat.
The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making wise the simple.7The instruction of the LORD is perfect, renewing one's life; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise.
The precepts of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart; the commandments of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.8The precepts of the LORD are right, making the heart glad; the command of the LORD is radiant, making the eyes light up.
The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true, being altogether righteous.9The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the LORD are reliable and altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.10They are more desirable than gold-- than an abundance of pure gold; and sweeter than honey, which comes from the honeycomb.
By them indeed Your servant is warned; in keeping them is great reward.11In addition, Your servant is warned by them; there is great reward in keeping them.
Who can discern his own errors? Cleanse me from my hidden faults.12Who perceives his unintentional sins? Cleanse me from my hidden faults.
Keep Your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed of great transgression.13Moreover, keep Your servant from willful sins; do not let them rule over me. Then I will be innocent and cleansed from blatant rebellion.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.14May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.
