Berean Study BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
A Maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A prayer. I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift my voice to the LORD for mercy.1Maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A Prayer. I cry aloud with my voice to the LORD; I make supplication with my voice to the LORD.
I pour out my complaint before Him; I reveal my trouble to Him.2I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my trouble before Him.
Although my spirit grows faint within me, You know my way. Along the path I travel they have hidden a snare for me.3When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, You knew my path. In the way where I walk They have hidden a trap for me.
Look to my right and see; no one attends to me. There is no refuge for me; no one cares for my soul.4Look to the right and see; For there is no one who regards me; There is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul.
I cry to You, O LORD: “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”5I cried out to You, O LORD; I said, "You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.
Listen to my cry, for I am brought quite low. Rescue me from my pursuers, for they are too strong for me.6"Give heed to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me.
Free my soul from prison, that I may praise Your name. The righteous will gather around me because of Your goodness to me.7"Bring my soul out of prison, So that I may give thanks to Your name; The righteous will surround me, For You will deal bountifully with me."
