And David realized that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and had highly exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.2David realized that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and that he had elevated his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
And David took more wives in Jerusalem and became the father of more sons and daughters.3In Jerusalem David married more wives and fathered more sons and daughters.

When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they all went in search of him; but David learned of this and went out to face them.8When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king of all Israel, all the Philistines marched up to confront him. When David heard about it, he marched out against them.
Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim.9Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim.
So David inquired of God, “Should I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” “Go,” replied the LORD, “for I will deliver them into your hand.”10David asked God, "Should I march up against the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?" The LORD said to him, "March up! I will hand them over to you!"
So David and his men went up to Baal-perazim, where he defeated the Philistines and said, “Like a bursting flood, God has burst out against my enemies by my hand.” So they called that place Baal-perazim.11So they marched against Baal Perazim and David defeated them there. David said, "Using me as his instrument, God has burst out against my enemies like water bursts out." So that place is called Baal Perazim.
There the Philistines abandoned their gods, and David ordered that they be burned in the fire.12The Philistines left their idols there, so David ordered that they be burned.
Once again the Philistines raided the valley.13The Philistines again raided the valley.
So David again inquired of God, who answered him, “Do not march up after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the balsam trees.14So David again asked God what he should do. This time God told him, "Don't march up after them; circle around them and come against them in front of the trees.
As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move out to battle, because this will mean that God has marched out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”15When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the trees, then attack. For at that moment the LORD is going before you to strike down the army of the Philistines."
So David did as God had commanded him, and they struck down the army of the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.16David did just as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.
And David’s fame went out into every land, and the LORD caused all nations to fear him.17So David became famous in all the lands; the LORD caused all the nations to fear him.
