| 1When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him. | 1Large crowds followed Jesus as he came down the mountainside. |
| 2Suddenly a leper came and knelt before Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” | 2Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” |
| 3Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. | 3Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared. |
| 4Then Jesus instructed him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift prescribed by Moses, as a testimony to them.” | 4Then Jesus said to him, “Don’t tell anyone about this. Instead, go to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy. | 5When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came and pleaded with Him, | 5When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a Roman officer came and pleaded with him, |
| 6“Lord, my servant lies at home, paralyzed and in terrible agony.” | 6“Lord, my young servant lies in bed, paralyzed and in terrible pain.” |

| 9For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell one to go, and he goes; and another to come, and he comes. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.” |
| 10When Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those following Him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. | 10When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. | 11I say to you that many will come from the east and the west to share the banquet with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. | 11 And I tell you this, that many Gentiles will come from all over the world—from east and west—and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the feast in the Kingdom of Heaven. |

| 13Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! As you have believed, so will it be done for you.” And his servant was healed at that very hour. | 13Then Jesus said to the Roman officer, “Go back home. | 26“You of little faith,” Jesus replied, “why are you so afraid?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was perfectly calm. | 26Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. |

| 28When Jesus arrived on the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, He was met by two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. | 28When Jesus arrived on the other side of the lake, in the region of the Gadarenes, two men who were possessed by demons met him. They came out of the tombs and were so violent that no one could go through that area. |
| 29“What do You want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have You come here to torture us before the appointed time?” | 29They began screaming at him, “Why are you interfering with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture us before God’s appointed time?” |
| 30In the distance a large herd of pigs was feeding. | 30There happened to be a large herd of pigs feeding in the distance. |
| 31So the demons begged Jesus, “If You drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.” | 31So the demons begged, “If you cast us out, send us into that herd of pigs.” |
| 32“Go!” He told them. So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and died in the waters. | 32 “All right, go!” Jesus commanded them. So the demons came out of the men and entered the pigs, and the whole herd plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned in the water. |
| 33Those tending the pigs ran off into the town and reported all this, including the account of the demon-possessed men. | 33The herdsmen fled to the nearby town, telling everyone what happened to the demon-possessed men. |
| 34Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they begged Him to leave their region. | 34Then the entire town came out to meet Jesus, but they begged him to go away and leave them alone. |
