Berean Study Bible | New Living Translation |
Of David, when he pretended to be insane before Abimelech, so that the king drove him away. I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. | 1I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. |
My soul boasts in the LORD; let the oppressed hear and rejoice. | 2I will boast only in the LORD; let all who are helpless take heart. |
Magnify the LORD with me; let us exalt His name together. | 3Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his name together. |
I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. | 4I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. |
Those who look to Him are radiant with joy; their faces shall never be ashamed. | 5Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. |
This poor man called out, and the LORD heard him; He saved him from all his troubles. | 6In my desperation I prayed, and the LORD listened; he saved me from all my troubles. |
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and he delivers them. | 7For the angel of the LORD is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. |
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! | 8Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! |
Fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing. | 9Fear the LORD, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need. |
Young lions go lacking and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. | 10Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing. |
Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. | 11Come, my children, and listen to me, and I will teach you to fear the LORD. |
Who is the man who delights in life, who desires to see good days? | 12Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? |
Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from deceitful speech. | 13Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! |
Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. | 14Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. |
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their cry. | 15The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. |
But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to wipe out all memory of them from the earth. | 16But the LORD turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth. |
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears; He delivers them from all their troubles. | 17The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. |
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted; He saves the contrite in spirit. | 18The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. |
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all. | 19The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time. |
He protects all his bones; not one of them will be broken. | 20For the LORD protects the bones of the righteous; not one of them is broken! |
Evil will slay the wicked, and the haters of the righteous will be condemned. | 21Calamity will surely destroy the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be punished. |
The LORD redeems His servants, and none who take refuge in Him will be condemned. | 22But the LORD will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. |
