So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.1Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.4When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Therefore, put to death what belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.5Put to death, therefore, the components of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry.
Because of these, God's wrath is coming upon the disobedient,6Because of these, the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.
and you once walked in these things when you were living in them.7When you lived among them, you also used to walk in these ways.
But now, put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth.8But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices9Do not lie to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices,
and have put on the new self. You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator.10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
In Christ there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all.11Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free, but Christ is all and is in all.
Therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,12Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with hearts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you are also to forgive.13Bear with one another and forgive any complaint you may have against someone else. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.14And over all these virtues put on love, which is the bond of perfect unity.
And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful.15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.16Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.17And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.18Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and don't be bitter toward them.19Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.20Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.
Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they won't become discouraged.21Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they will not become discouraged.
Slaves, obey your human masters in everything. Don't work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but work wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord.22Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord.
Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people,23Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men,
knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.24because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
For the wrongdoer will be paid back for whatever wrong he has done, and there is no favoritism.25Whoever does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.
