Christian Standard Bible | English Standard Version |
LORD, I seek refuge in you; let me never be disgraced. Save me by your righteousness. | 1In you, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me! |
Listen closely to me; rescue me quickly. Be a rock of refuge for me, a mountain fortress to save me. | 2Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily! Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me! |
For you are my rock and my fortress; you lead and guide me for your name's sake. | 3For you are my rock and my fortress; and for your name’s sake you lead me and guide me; |
You will free me from the net that is secretly set for me, for you are my refuge. | 4you take me out of the net they have hidden for me, for you are my refuge. |
Into your hand I entrust my spirit; you have redeemed me, LORD, God of truth. | 5Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O LORD, faithful God. |
I hate those who are devoted to worthless idols, but I trust in the LORD. | 6I hate those who pay regard to worthless idols, but I trust in the LORD. |
I will rejoice and be glad in your faithful love because you have seen my affliction. You know the troubles of my soul | 7I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love, because you have seen my affliction; you have known the distress of my soul, |
and have not handed me over to the enemy. You have set my feet in a spacious place. | 8and you have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy; you have set my feet in a broad place. |
Be gracious to me, LORD, because I am in distress; my eyes are worn out from frustration--my whole being as well. | 9Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief; my soul and my body also. |
Indeed, my life is consumed with grief and my years with groaning; my strength has failed because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away. | 10For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away. |
I am ridiculed by all my adversaries and even by my neighbors. I am dreaded by my acquaintances; those who see me in the street run from me. | 11Because of all my adversaries I have become a reproach, especially to my neighbors, and an object of dread to my acquaintances; those who see me in the street flee from me. |
I am forgotten: gone from memory like a dead person--like broken pottery. | 12I have been forgotten like one who is dead; I have become like a broken vessel. |
I have heard the gossip of many; terror is on every side. When they conspired against me, they plotted to take my life. | 13For I hear the whispering of many— terror on every side!— as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life. |
But I trust in you, LORD; I say, "You are my God." | 14But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.” |
The course of my life is in your power; rescue me from the power of my enemies and from my persecutors. | 15My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors! |
Make your face shine on your servant; save me by your faithful love. | 16Make your face shine on your servant; save me in your steadfast love! |
LORD, do not let me be disgraced when I call on you. Let the wicked be disgraced; let them be quiet in Sheol. | 17O LORD, let me not be put to shame, for I call upon you; let the wicked be put to shame; let them go silently to Sheol. |
Let lying lips that arrogantly speak against the righteous in proud contempt be silenced. | 18Let the lying lips be mute, which speak insolently against the righteous in pride and contempt. |
How great is your goodness that you have stored up for those who fear you and accomplished in the sight of everyone for those who take refuge in you. | 19Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind! |
You hide them in the protection of your presence; you conceal them in a shelter from human schemes, from quarrelsome tongues. | 20In the cover of your presence you hide them from the plots of men; you store them in your shelter from the strife of tongues. |
Blessed be the LORD, for he has wondrously shown his faithful love to me in a city under siege. | 21Blessed be the LORD, for he has wondrously shown his steadfast love to me when I was in a besieged city. |
In my alarm I said, "I am cut off from your sight." But you heard the sound of my pleading when I cried to you for help. | 22I had said in my alarm, “I am cut off from your sight.” But you heard the voice of my pleas for mercy when I cried to you for help. |
Love the LORD, all his faithful ones. The LORD protects the loyal, but fully repays the arrogant. | 23Love the LORD, all you his saints! The LORD preserves the faithful but abundantly repays the one who acts in pride. |
Be strong, and let your heart be courageous, all you who put your hope in the LORD. | 24Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the LORD! |
