Blessed be the LORD, my rock who trains my hands for battle and my fingers for warfare. | 1Praise the LORD, who is my rock. He trains my hands for war and gives my fingers skill for battle. |
He is my faithful love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in him; he subdues my people under me. | 2He is my loving ally and my fortress, my tower of safety, my rescuer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in him. He makes the nations submit to me. |
LORD, what is a human that you care for him, a son of man that you think of him? | 3O LORD, what are human beings that you should notice them, mere mortals that you should think about them? |
A human is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow. | 4For they are like a breath of air; their days are like a passing shadow. |
LORD, part your heavens and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke. | 5Open the heavens, LORD, and come down. Touch the mountains so they billow smoke. |
Flash your lightning and scatter the foe; shoot your arrows and rout them. | 6Hurl your lightning bolts and scatter your enemies! Shoot your arrows and confuse them! |
Reach down from on high; rescue me from deep water, and set me free from the grasp of foreigners | 7Reach down from heaven and rescue me; rescue me from deep waters, from the power of my enemies. |
whose mouths speak lies, whose right hands are deceptive. | 8Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead. |
God, I will sing a new song to you; I will play on a ten-stringed harp for you-- | 9I will sing a new song to you, O God! I will sing your praises with a ten-stringed harp. |
the one who gives victory to kings, who frees his servant David from the deadly sword. | 10For you grant victory to kings! You rescued your servant David from the fatal sword. |
Set me free and rescue me from foreigners whose mouths speak lies, whose right hands are deceptive. | 11Save me! Rescue me from the power of my enemies. Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead. |
Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters, like corner pillars that are carved in the palace style. | 12May our sons flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants. May our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace. |
Our storehouses will be full, supplying all kinds of produce; our flocks will increase by thousands and tens of thousands in our open fields. | 13May our barns be filled with crops of every kind. May the flocks in our fields multiply by the thousands, even tens of thousands, |
Our cattle will be well fed. There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our public squares. | 14and may our oxen be loaded down with produce. May there be no enemy breaking through our walls, no going into captivity, no cries of alarm in our town squares. |
Happy are the people with such blessings. Happy are the people whose God is the LORD. | 15Yes, joyful are those who live like this! Joyful indeed are those whose God is the LORD. |
