| 1I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. | 1Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. |

| 7if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; | 7if it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; |
| 8the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. | 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is giving, let him give generously; if it is leading, let him lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. |
| 9Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. | 9Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good. |
| 10Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. | 10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Outdo yourselves in honoring one another. |
