| 1Do you indeed decree what is right, you gods? Do you judge the children of man uprightly? | 1Do you really speak righteously, you mighty ones? Do you judge people fairly? |
| 2No, in your hearts you devise wrongs; your hands deal out violence on earth. | 2No, you practice injustice in your hearts; with your hands you weigh out violence in the land. |
| 3The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from birth, speaking lies. | 3The wicked go astray from the womb; liars wander about from birth. |
| 4They have venom like the venom of a serpent, like the deaf adder that stops its ear, | 4They have venom like the venom of a snake, like the deaf cobra that stops up its ears, |
| 5so that it does not hear the voice of charmers or of the cunning enchanter. | 5that does not listen to the sound of the charmers who skillfully weave spells. |
| 6O God, break the teeth in their mouths; tear out the fangs of the young lions, O LORD! | 6God, knock the teeth out of their mouths; LORD, tear out the young lions' fangs. |
| 7Let them vanish like water that runs away; when he aims his arrows, let them be blunted. | 7May they vanish like water that flows by; may they aim their blunted arrows. |

| 10The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked. | 10The righteous one will rejoice when he sees the retribution; he will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. |
| 11Mankind will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.” | 11Then people will say, "Yes, there is a reward for the righteous! There is a God who judges on earth!" |
