Let brotherly love continue.1Let brotherly love continue.
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.2Stop neglecting to show hospitality to strangers, for by showing hospitality some have had angels as their guests without being aware of it.
Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.3Continue to remember those in prison as if you were in prison with them, as well as those who are mistreated, since they also are only mortal.
Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.4Let marriage be kept honorable in every way, and the marriage bed undefiled. For God will judge those who commit sexual sins, especially those who commit adultery.
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”5Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for God has said, "I will never leave you or abandon you."
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”6Hence we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?"
Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.7Remember your leaders, those who have spoken God's word to you. Think about the impact of their lives, and imitate their faith.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.8Jesus, the Messiah, is the same yesterday and today—and forever!
Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them.9Stop being carried away by all kinds of unusual teachings, for it is good that the heart be strengthened by grace, not by food laws that have never helped those who follow them.
We have an altar from which those who serve the tent have no right to eat.10We have an altar, and those who serve in the tent have no right to eat at it.
For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy places by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp.11For the bodies of animals, whose blood is taken into the sanctuary by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp.
So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood.12That is why Jesus, in order to sanctify the people by his own blood, also suffered outside the city gate.
Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured.13Therefore go to him outside the camp and endure the insults he endured.
For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.14For here we have no permanent city but are looking for the one that is coming.
Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.15Therefore, through him let us always bring God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of our lips that confess his name.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.16Do not neglect to do good and to be generous, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.17Continue to follow and be submissive to your leaders, since they are watching over your souls as those who will have to give a word of explanation. By doing this, you will be letting them carry out their duties joyfully, and not with grief, for that would be harmful for you.
Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things.18Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way.
I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored to you the sooner.19I especially ask you to do this so that I may be brought back to you sooner.
Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,20Now may the God of peace, who by the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the Great Shepherd of the sheep,
equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.21equip you with everything good to do his will, accomplishing in us what pleases him through Jesus, the Messiah. To him be glory forever and ever! Amen.
I appeal to you, brothers, bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.22I urge you, brothers, to listen patiently to my encouraging message, for I have written you a short letter.
You should know that our brother Timothy has been released, with whom I shall see you if he comes soon.23You should know that our brother Timothy has been set free. If he comes soon, he will be with me when I see you.
Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those who come from Italy send you greetings.24Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those who are from Italy greet you.
Grace be with all of you.25May grace be with all of you!
