Hebrews 3
ESV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
English Standard VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,1Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;
who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house.2He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all His house.
For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself.3For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house.
(For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.)4For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.
Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later,5Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later;
but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.6but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house-- whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice,7Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE,
do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness,8DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME, AS IN THE DAY OF TRIAL IN THE WILDERNESS,
where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years.9WHERE YOUR FATHERS TRIED Me BY TESTING Me, AND SAW MY WORKS FOR FORTY YEARS.
Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart; they have not known my ways.’10"THEREFORE I WAS ANGRY WITH THIS GENERATION, AND SAID, 'THEY ALWAYS GO ASTRAY IN THEIR HEART, AND THEY DID NOT KNOW MY WAYS';
As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall not enter my rest.’”11AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH, 'THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST.'"
Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.12Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.
But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.13But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.14For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,
As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”15while it is said, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME."
For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses?16For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?
And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?17And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient?18And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?
So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.19So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.
