1Incline your ear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. | 1A prayer of David. Listen O LORD! Answer me! For I am oppressed and needy. |
2Preserve my life, for I am godly; save your servant, who trusts in you—you are my God. | 2Protect me, for I am loyal! O my God, deliver your servant, who trusts in you! |
3Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all the day. | 3Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I cry out to you all day long! |
4Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. | 4Make your servant glad, for to you, O Lord, I pray! |
5For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. | 5Certainly O Lord, you are kind and forgiving, and show great faithfulness to all who cry out to you. |
6Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. | 6O LORD, hear my prayer! Pay attention to my plea for mercy! |
7In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me. | 7In my time of trouble I cry out to you, for you will answer me. |
8There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. | 8None can compare to you among the gods, O Lord! Your exploits are incomparable! |
9All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. | 9All the nations, whom you created, will come and worship you, O Lord. They will honor your name. |
10For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God. | 10For you are great and do amazing things. You alone are God. |
11Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. | 11O LORD, teach me how you want me to live! Then I will obey your commands. Make me wholeheartedly committed to you! |
12I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever. | 12O Lord, my God, I will give you thanks with my whole heart! I will honor your name continually! |
13For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. | 13For you will extend your great loyal love to me, and will deliver my life from the depths of Sheol. |
14O God, insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seeks my life, and they do not set you before them. | 14O God, arrogant men attack me; a gang of ruthless men, who do not respect you, seek my life. |
15But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. | 15But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and merciful God. You are patient and demonstrate great loyal love and faithfulness. |
16Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your maidservant. | 16Turn toward me and have mercy on me! Give your servant your strength! Deliver your slave! |
17Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me. | 17Show me evidence of your favor! Then those who hate me will see it and be ashamed, for you, O LORD, will help me and comfort me. |
