Holman Christian Standard Bible | English Standard Version |
For the choir director. A Davidic psalm. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims the work of His hands. | 1The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. |
Day after day they pour out speech; night after night they communicate knowledge. | 2Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. |
There is no speech; there are no words; their voice is not heard. | 3There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. |
Their message has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun. | 4Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, |
It is like a groom coming from the bridal chamber; it rejoices like an athlete running a course. | 5which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. |
It rises from one end of the heavens and circles to their other end; nothing is hidden from its heat. | 6Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat. |
The instruction of the LORD is perfect, renewing one's life; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise. | 7The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; |
The precepts of the LORD are right, making the heart glad; the command of the LORD is radiant, making the eyes light up. | 8the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; |
The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the LORD are reliable and altogether righteous. | 9the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. |
They are more desirable than gold-- than an abundance of pure gold; and sweeter than honey, which comes from the honeycomb. | 10More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. |
In addition, Your servant is warned by them; there is great reward in keeping them. | 11Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. |
Who perceives his unintentional sins? Cleanse me from my hidden faults. | 12Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. |
Moreover, keep Your servant from willful sins; do not let them rule over me. Then I will be innocent and cleansed from blatant rebellion. | 13Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. |
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, LORD, my rock and my Redeemer. | 14Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. |
