Psalm 10
HCSB Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleInternational Standard Version
LORD, why do You stand so far away? Why do You hide in times of trouble? 1 Why do you stand far away, LORD? Why do you hide in times of distress?
In arrogance the wicked relentlessly pursue the afflicted; let them be caught in the schemes they have devised. 2The wicked one arrogantly pursues the afflicted, who are trapped in the schemes he devises.
For the wicked one boasts about his own cravings; the one who is greedy curses and despises the LORD. 3For the wicked one boasts about his own desire; he blesses the greedy and despises the LORD.
In all his scheming, the wicked arrogantly thinks:" There is no accountability, since God does not exist." 4With haughty arrogance, the wicked thinks, "God will not seek justice." He always presumes "There is no God."
His ways are always secure; Your lofty judgments are beyond his sight; he scoffs at all his adversaries. 5Their ways always seem prosperous. Your judgments are on high, far away from them. They scoff at all their enemies.
He says to himself, "I will never be moved-- from generation to generation without calamity." 6They say to themselves, "We will not be moved throughout all time, and we will not experience adversity."
Cursing, deceit, and violence fill his mouth; trouble and malice are under his tongue. 7Their mouth is full of curses, lies, and oppression, their tongues spread trouble and iniquity.
He waits in ambush near the villages; he kills the innocent in secret places. His eyes are on the lookout for the helpless; 8They wait in ambush in the villages, they kill the innocent in secret.
he lurks in secret like a lion in a thicket. He lurks in order to seize the afflicted; he seizes the afflicted and drags him in his net. 9Their eyes secretly watch the helpless, lying in wait like a lion in his den. They lie in wait to catch the afflicted. They catch the afflicted when they pull him into their net.
So he is oppressed and beaten down; the helpless fall because of his strength. 10The victim is crushed, and he sinks down; the helpless fall by their might.
He says to himself, "God has forgotten; He hides His face and will never see." 11The wicked say to themselves, "God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it."
Rise up, LORD God! Lift up Your hand. Do not forget the afflicted. 12Rise up, LORD! Raise your hand, God. Don't forget the afflicted!
Why has the wicked person despised God? He says to himself, "You will not demand an account." 13Why do the wicked despise God and say to themselves, "God will not seek justice."?
But You Yourself have seen trouble and grief, observing it in order to take the matter into Your hands. The helpless entrusts himself to You; You are a helper of the fatherless. 14But you do see! You take note of trouble and grief in order to take the matter into your own hand. The helpless one commits himself to you; you have been the orphan's helper.
Break the arm of the wicked and evil person; call his wickedness into account until nothing remains of it. 15Break the arm of the wicked and evil man; so that when you seek out his wickedness you will find it no more.
The LORD is King forever and ever; the nations will perish from His land. 16The LORD is king forever and ever; nations will perish from his land.
LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully, 17LORD, you heard the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen them, you will listen carefully,
doing justice for the fatherless and the oppressed so that men of the earth may terrify them no more. 18to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed, so that men of the earth may cause terror no more.
