A psalm. A song for the Sabbath day. It is good to praise Yahweh, to sing praise to Your name, Most High, | 1A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: |
to declare Your faithful love in the morning and Your faithfulness at night, | 2To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, |
with a ten-stringed harp and the music of a lyre. | 3Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. |
For You have made me rejoice, LORD, by what You have done; I will shout for joy because of the works of Your hands. | 4For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. |
How magnificent are Your works, LORD, how profound Your thoughts! | 5O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. |
A stupid person does not know, a fool does not understand this: | 6A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. |
though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be eternally destroyed. | 7When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: |
But You, LORD, are exalted forever. | 8But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. |
For indeed, LORD, Your enemies-- indeed, Your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered. | 9For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. |
You have lifted up my horn like that of a wild ox; I have been anointed with oil. | 10But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. |
My eyes look down on my enemies; my ears hear evildoers when they attack me. | 11Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. |
The righteous thrive like a palm tree and grow like a cedar tree in Lebanon. | 12The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. |
Planted in the house of the LORD, they thrive in the courts of our God. | 13Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. |
They will still bear fruit in old age, healthy and green, | 14They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; |
to declare: "The LORD is just; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him." | 15To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. |
