Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus,1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
because the Spirit's law of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
What the law could not do since it was limited by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending His own Son in flesh like ours under sin's domain, and as a sin offering,3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
in order that the law's requirement would be accomplished in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For those who live according to the flesh think about the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, about the things of the Spirit. 5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set of the Spirit is life and peace. 6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
For the mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit itself to God's law, for it is unable to do so.7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God lives in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. 9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Now if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 10And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then He who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through His Spirit who lives in you. 11But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
So then, brothers, we are not obligated to the flesh to live according to the flesh, 12Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
for if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 13For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
All those led by God's Spirit are God's sons.14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father!"15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God's children, 16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
and if children, also heirs--heirs of God and coheirs with Christ--seeing that we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. 17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. 18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation for God's sons to be revealed. 19For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
For the creation was subjected to futility--not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it--in the hope20For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of corruption into the glorious freedom of God's children. 21Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains until now. 22For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
And not only that, but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits--we also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.23And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
Now in this hope we were saved, yet hope that is seen is not hope, because who hopes for what he sees? 24For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with patience. 25But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings. 26Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And He who searches the hearts knows the Spirit's mind-set, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
For those He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
And those He predestined, He also called; and those He called, He also justified; and those He justified, He also glorified. 30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 31What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
He did not even spare His own Son but offered Him up for us all; how will He not also with Him grant us everything? 32He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Who can bring an accusation against God's elect? God is the One who justifies. 33Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the One who died, but even more, has been raised; He also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. 34Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or anguish or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
As it is written: Because of You we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered. 36As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
No, in all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us. 37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord! 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
