Psalm 76
International Standard VersionKing James Bible
God is known in Judah; in Israel his reputation is great.1To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song of Asaph. In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.
His abode is in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion.2In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
There he shattered sharp arrows, shields, swords, and weapons of war. Interlude3There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.
You are enveloped by light; more majestic than mountains filled with game.4Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.
Brave men were plundered while they slumbered in their sleep. All the men of the army were immobilized.5The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
At the sound of your battle cry, God of Jacob, both horse and chariot rider fell into deep sleep.6At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
You are awesome! who can stand in your presence when you're angry?7Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
From heaven you declared judgment. The earth stands in awe and is quiet8Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
when God arose to execute justice and to deliver all the afflicted of the earth. Interlude9When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.
Even human anger praises you; you will wear the survivors of your wrath as an ornament. 10Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.
Let everyone who surrounds the LORD your God make a vow and fulfill it to the Awesome One. 11Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
He will humble the arrogant commanders-in-chief, instilling fear among the kings of the earth.12He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
