| 8And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. | 8So they hurried away from the tomb in fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples. |
| 9And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. | 9Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” They came to Him, grasped His feet, and worshiped Him. |
| 10Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me. | 10“Do not be afraid,” said Jesus. “Go and tell My brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see Me.” |
| 11Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. | 11While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened. |
| 12And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, | 12And after the chief priests had met with the elders and formed a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money |
| 13Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. | 13and instructed them: “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’ |
| 14And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. | 14If this report reaches the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” |
| 15So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day. | 15So the guards took the money and did as they were instructed. And this account has been circulated among the Jews to this very day. |
| 16Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. | 16Meanwhile, the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain Jesus had designated. |
