King James BibleBerean Standard Bible
Maschil of David; A Prayer when he was in the cave. I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.1A Maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A prayer. I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift my voice to the LORD for mercy.
I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.2I pour out my complaint before Him; I reveal my trouble to Him.
When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.3Although my spirit grows faint within me, You know my way. Along the path I travel they have hidden a snare for me.
I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.4Look to my right and see; no one attends to me. There is no refuge for me; no one cares for my soul.
I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.5I cry to You, O LORD: “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”
Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.6Listen to my cry, for I am brought quite low. Rescue me from my pursuers, for they are too strong for me.
Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.7Free my soul from prison, that I may praise Your name. The righteous will gather around me because of Your goodness to me.
