This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.1But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,2For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,3unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;4treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.5holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,6For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses,
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.7always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith.
But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.9But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes's and Jambres's folly was also.
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,10Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance,
Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.11persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me!
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.12Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.13But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;14You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.15and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:16All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.17so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
