A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance. O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.1A Psalm of David, for a memorial. O LORD, rebuke me not in Your wrath, And chasten me not in Your burning anger.
For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.2For Your arrows have sunk deep into me, And Your hand has pressed down on me.
There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.3There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your indignation; There is no health in my bones because of my sin.
For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.4For my iniquities are gone over my head; As a heavy burden they weigh too much for me.
My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.5My wounds grow foul and fester Because of my folly.
I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.6I am bent over and greatly bowed down; I go mourning all day long.
For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.7For my loins are filled with burning, And there is no soundness in my flesh.
I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.8I am benumbed and badly crushed; I groan because of the agitation of my heart.
Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.9Lord, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You.
My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.10My heart throbs, my strength fails me; And the light of my eyes, even that has gone from me.
My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.11My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague; And my kinsmen stand afar off.
They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.12Those who seek my life lay snares for me; And those who seek to injure me have threatened destruction, And they devise treachery all day long.
But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.13But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; And I am like a mute man who does not open his mouth.
Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.14Yes, I am like a man who does not hear, And in whose mouth are no arguments.
For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.15For I hope in You, O LORD; You will answer, O Lord my God.
For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.16For I said, "May they not rejoice over me, Who, when my foot slips, would magnify themselves against me."
For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.17For I am ready to fall, And my sorrow is continually before me.
For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.18For I confess my iniquity; I am full of anxiety because of my sin.
But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.19But my enemies are vigorous and strong, And many are those who hate me wrongfully.
They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.20And those who repay evil for good, They oppose me, because I follow what is good.
Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.21Do not forsake me, O LORD; O my God, do not be far from me!
Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.22Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation!
