| 1A Song of degrees. Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. | 1A song of ascents. How blessed is every one of the LORD's loyal followers, each one who keeps his commands! |
| 2For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. | 2You will eat what you worked so hard to grow. You will be blessed and secure. |
| 3Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. | 3Your wife will be like a fruitful vine in the inner rooms of your house; your children will be like olive branches, as they sit all around your table. |
| 4Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD. | 4Yes indeed, the man who fears the LORD will be blessed in this way. |
| 5The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. | 5May the LORD bless you from Zion, that you might see Jerusalem prosper all the days of your life, |
| 6Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel. | 6and that you might see your grandchildren. May Israel experience peace! |
