| 1Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. | 1You godly ones, shout for joy because of the LORD! It is appropriate for the morally upright to offer him praise. |
| 2Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. | 2Give thanks to the LORD with the harp! Sing to him to the accompaniment of a ten-stringed instrument! |
| 3Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. | 3Sing to him a new song! Play skillfully as you shout out your praises to him! |
| 4For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. | 4For the LORD's decrees are just, and everything he does is fair. |

| 13The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. | 13The LORD watches from heaven; he sees all people. |

| 15He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works. | 15He is the one who forms every human heart, and takes note of all their actions. |
| 16There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. | 16No king is delivered by his vast army; a warrior is not saved by his great might. |
| 17An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. | 17A horse disappoints those who trust in it for victory; despite its great strength, it cannot deliver. |
| 18Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; | 18Look, the LORD takes notice of his loyal followers, those who wait for him to demonstrate his faithfulness |
| 19To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. | 19by saving their lives from death and sustaining them during times of famine. |
| 20Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. | 20We wait for the LORD; he is our deliverer and shield. |
| 21For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. | 21For our hearts rejoice in him, for we trust in his holy name. |
| 22Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. | 22May we experience your faithfulness, O LORD, for we wait for you. |
