King James Bible | New Living Translation |
A Prayer of David. Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy. | 1Bend down, O LORD, and hear my prayer; answer me, for I need your help. |
Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee. | 2Protect me, for I am devoted to you. Save me, for I serve you and trust you. You are my God. |
Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. | 3Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly. |
Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. | 4Give me happiness, O Lord, for I give myself to you. |
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. | 5O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. |
Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. | 6Listen closely to my prayer, O LORD; hear my urgent cry. |
In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me. | 7I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble, and you will answer me. |
Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works. | 8No pagan god is like you, O Lord. None can do what you do! |
All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. | 9All the nations you made will come and bow before you, Lord; they will praise your holy name. |
For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone. | 10For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God. |
Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. | 11Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you. |
I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore. | 12With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God. I will give glory to your name forever, |
For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell. | 13for your love for me is very great. You have rescued me from the depths of death. |
O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them. | 14O God, insolent people rise up against me; a violent gang is trying to kill me. You mean nothing to them. |
But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. | 15But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. |
O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid. | 16Look down and have mercy on me. Give your strength to your servant; save me, the son of your servant. |
Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me. | 17Send me a sign of your favor. Then those who hate me will be put to shame, for you, O LORD, help and comfort me. |
