NASB Parallel BSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995Berean Study Bible
"Call now, is there anyone who will answer you? And to which of the holy ones will you turn?1“Call out if you please, but who will answer? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
"For anger slays the foolish man, And jealousy kills the simple.2For resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple.
"I have seen the foolish taking root, And I cursed his abode immediately.3I have seen a fool taking root, but suddenly his house was cursed.
"His sons are far from safety, They are even oppressed in the gate, And there is no deliverer.4His sons are far from safety, crushed in court without a defender.
"His harvest the hungry devour And take it to a place of thorns, And the schemer is eager for their wealth.5The hungry consume his harvest, taking it even from the thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth.
"For affliction does not come from the dust, Nor does trouble sprout from the ground,6For distress does not spring from the dust, and trouble does not sprout from the ground.
For man is born for trouble, As sparks fly upward.7Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.
"But as for me, I would seek God, And I would place my cause before God;8However, if I were you, I would appeal to God and lay my cause before Him—
Who does great and unsearchable things, Wonders without number.9the One who does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number.
"He gives rain on the earth And sends water on the fields,10He gives rain to the earth and sends water upon the fields.
So that He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety.11He sets the lowly on high, so that mourners are lifted to safety.
"He frustrates the plotting of the shrewd, So that their hands cannot attain success.12He thwarts the schemes of the crafty, so that their hands find no success.
"He captures the wise by their own shrewdness, And the advice of the cunning is quickly thwarted.13He catches the wise in their craftiness, and sweeps away the plans of the cunning.
"By day they meet with darkness, And grope at noon as in the night.14They encounter darkness by day and grope at noon as in the night.
"But He saves from the sword of their mouth, And the poor from the hand of the mighty.15He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth and from the clutches of the powerful.
"So the helpless has hope, And unrighteousness must shut its mouth.16So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.
"Behold, how happy is the man whom God reproves, So do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.17Blessed indeed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
"For He inflicts pain, and gives relief; He wounds, and His hands also heal.18For He wounds, but He also binds; He strikes, but His hands also heal.
"From six troubles He will deliver you, Even in seven evil will not touch you.19He will rescue you from six calamities; no harm will touch you in seven.
"In famine He will redeem you from death, And in war from the power of the sword.20In famine He will redeem you from death, and in battle from the stroke of the sword.
"You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, And you will not be afraid of violence when it comes.21You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and will not fear havoc when it comes.
"You will laugh at violence and famine, And you will not be afraid of wild beasts.22You will laugh at destruction and famine, and need not fear the beasts of the earth.
"For you will be in league with the stones of the field, And the beasts of the field will be at peace with you.23For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
"You will know that your tent is secure, For you will visit your abode and fear no loss.24You will know that your tent is secure, and find nothing amiss when inspecting your home.
"You will know also that your descendants will be many, And your offspring as the grass of the earth.25You will know that your offspring will be many, your descendants like the grass of the earth.
"You will come to the grave in full vigor, Like the stacking of grain in its season.26You will come to the grave in full vigor, like a sheaf of grain gathered in season.
"Behold this; we have investigated it, and so it is. Hear it, and know for yourself."27Indeed, we have investigated, and it is true! So hear it and know for yourself.”
