A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle;1Of David. Blessed be the LORD, my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
My lovingkindness and my fortress, My stronghold and my deliverer, My shield and He in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people under me.2He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
O LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You think of him?3O LORD, what is man, that You regard him, the son of man that You think of him?
Man is like a mere breath; His days are like a passing shadow.4Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
Bow Your heavens, O LORD, and come down; Touch the mountains, that they may smoke.5Part Your heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, that they may smoke.
Flash forth lightning and scatter them; Send out Your arrows and confuse them.6Flash forth Your lightning and scatter them; shoot Your arrows and rout them.
Stretch forth Your hand from on high; Rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, Out of the hand of aliens7Reach down from on high; set me free and rescue me from the deep waters, from the grasp of foreigners,
Whose mouths speak deceit, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.8whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful.
I will sing a new song to You, O God; Upon a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You,9I will sing to You a new song, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will make music to You—
Who gives salvation to kings, Who rescues David His servant from the evil sword.10to Him who gives victory to kings, who frees His servant David from the deadly sword.
Rescue me and deliver me out of the hand of aliens, Whose mouth speaks deceit And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.11Set me free and rescue me from the grasp of foreigners, whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful.
Let our sons in their youth be as grown-up plants, And our daughters as corner pillars fashioned as for a palace;12Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved to adorn a palace.
Let our garners be full, furnishing every kind of produce, And our flocks bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields;13Our storehouses will be full, supplying all manner of produce; our flocks will bring forth thousands, tens of thousands in our fields.
Let our cattle bear Without mishap and without loss, Let there be no outcry in our streets!14Our oxen will bear great loads. There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our streets.
How blessed are the people who are so situated; How blessed are the people whose God is the LORD!15Blessed are the people of whom this is so; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.
