A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle; | 1Blessed be the LORD, my rock who trains my hands for battle and my fingers for warfare. |
My lovingkindness and my fortress, My stronghold and my deliverer, My shield and He in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people under me. | 2He is my faithful love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in him; he subdues my people under me. |
O LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You think of him? | 3LORD, what is a human that you care for him, a son of man that you think of him? |
Man is like a mere breath; His days are like a passing shadow. | 4A human is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow. |
Bow Your heavens, O LORD, and come down; Touch the mountains, that they may smoke. | 5LORD, part your heavens and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke. |
Flash forth lightning and scatter them; Send out Your arrows and confuse them. | 6Flash your lightning and scatter the foe; shoot your arrows and rout them. |
Stretch forth Your hand from on high; Rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, Out of the hand of aliens | 7Reach down from on high; rescue me from deep water, and set me free from the grasp of foreigners |
Whose mouths speak deceit, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. | 8whose mouths speak lies, whose right hands are deceptive. |
I will sing a new song to You, O God; Upon a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You, | 9God, I will sing a new song to you; I will play on a ten-stringed harp for you-- |
Who gives salvation to kings, Who rescues David His servant from the evil sword. | 10the one who gives victory to kings, who frees his servant David from the deadly sword. |
Rescue me and deliver me out of the hand of aliens, Whose mouth speaks deceit And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. | 11Set me free and rescue me from foreigners whose mouths speak lies, whose right hands are deceptive. |
Let our sons in their youth be as grown-up plants, And our daughters as corner pillars fashioned as for a palace; | 12Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters, like corner pillars that are carved in the palace style. |
Let our garners be full, furnishing every kind of produce, And our flocks bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields; | 13Our storehouses will be full, supplying all kinds of produce; our flocks will increase by thousands and tens of thousands in our open fields. |
Let our cattle bear Without mishap and without loss, Let there be no outcry in our streets! | 14Our cattle will be well fed. There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our public squares. |
How blessed are the people who are so situated; How blessed are the people whose God is the LORD! | 15Happy are the people with such blessings. Happy are the people whose God is the LORD. |
