NASB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995English Standard Version
"Why are times not stored up by the Almighty, And why do those who know Him not see His days?1“Why are not times of judgment kept by the Almighty, and why do those who know him never see his days?
"Some remove the landmarks; They seize and devour flocks.2Some move landmarks; they seize flocks and pasture them.
"They drive away the donkeys of the orphans; They take the widow's ox for a pledge.3They drive away the donkey of the fatherless; they take the widow’s ox for a pledge.
"They push the needy aside from the road; The poor of the land are made to hide themselves altogether.4They thrust the poor off the road; the poor of the earth all hide themselves.
"Behold, as wild donkeys in the wilderness They go forth seeking food in their activity, As bread for their children in the desert.5Behold, like wild donkeys in the desert the poor go out to their toil, seeking game; the wasteland yields food for their children.
"They harvest their fodder in the field And glean the vineyard of the wicked.6They gather their fodder in the field, and they glean the vineyard of the wicked man.
"They spend the night naked, without clothing, And have no covering against the cold.7They lie all night naked, without clothing, and have no covering in the cold.
"They are wet with the mountain rains And hug the rock for want of a shelter.8They are wet with the rain of the mountains and cling to the rock for lack of shelter.
"Others snatch the orphan from the breast, And against the poor they take a pledge.9(There are those who snatch the fatherless child from the breast, and they take a pledge against the poor.)
"They cause the poor to go about naked without clothing, And they take away the sheaves from the hungry.10They go about naked, without clothing; hungry, they carry the sheaves;
"Within the walls they produce oil; They tread wine presses but thirst.11among the olive rows of the wicked they make oil; they tread the winepresses, but suffer thirst.
"From the city men groan, And the souls of the wounded cry out; Yet God does not pay attention to folly.12From out of the city the dying groan, and the soul of the wounded cries for help; yet God charges no one with wrong.
"Others have been with those who rebel against the light; They do not want to know its ways Nor abide in its paths.13“There are those who rebel against the light, who are not acquainted with its ways, and do not stay in its paths.
"The murderer arises at dawn; He kills the poor and the needy, And at night he is as a thief.14The murderer rises before it is light, that he may kill the poor and needy, and in the night he is like a thief.
"The eye of the adulterer waits for the twilight, Saying, 'No eye will see me.' And he disguises his face.15The eye of the adulterer also waits for the twilight, saying, ‘No eye will see me’; and he veils his face.
"In the dark they dig into houses, They shut themselves up by day; They do not know the light.16In the dark they dig through houses; by day they shut themselves up; they do not know the light.
"For the morning is the same to him as thick darkness, For he is familiar with the terrors of thick darkness.17For deep darkness is morning to all of them; for they are friends with the terrors of deep darkness.
"They are insignificant on the surface of the water; Their portion is cursed on the earth. They do not turn toward the vineyards.18“You say, ‘Swift are they on the face of the waters; their portion is cursed in the land; no treader turns toward their vineyards.
"Drought and heat consume the snow waters, So does Sheol those who have sinned.19Drought and heat snatch away the snow waters; so does Sheol those who have sinned.
"A mother will forget him; The worm feeds sweetly till he is no longer remembered. And wickedness will be broken like a tree.20The womb forgets them; the worm finds them sweet; they are no longer remembered, so wickedness is broken like a tree.’
"He wrongs the barren woman And does no good for the widow.21“They wrong the barren, childless woman, and do no good to the widow.
"But He drags off the valiant by His power; He rises, but no one has assurance of life.22Yet God prolongs the life of the mighty by his power; they rise up when they despair of life.
"He provides them with security, and they are supported; And His eyes are on their ways.23He gives them security, and they are supported, and his eyes are upon their ways.
"They are exalted a little while, then they are gone; Moreover, they are brought low and like everything gathered up; Even like the heads of grain they are cut off.24They are exalted a little while, and then are gone; they are brought low and gathered up like all others; they are cut off like the heads of grain.
"Now if it is not so, who can prove me a liar, And make my speech worthless?"25If it is not so, who will prove me a liar and show that there is nothing in what I say?”
