Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant and praise is becoming.1Hallelujah! It is good to sing praise to our God, and it is fitting to sing glorious praise.
The LORD builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the outcasts of Israel.2The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem; he gathers together the outcasts of Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.3He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their injuries.
He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.4He keeps track of the number of stars, assigning names to all of them.
Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.5Our Lord is great, and rich in power; his understanding has no limitation.
The LORD supports the afflicted; He brings down the wicked to the ground.6The LORD supports the afflicted while he casts the wicked to the ground.
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; Sing praises to our God on the lyre,7Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving, and compose music to our God with the lyre.
Who covers the heavens with clouds, Who provides rain for the earth, Who makes grass to grow on the mountains.8He shields the heavens with clouds, preparing rain for the earth and making grass grow on the hills.
He gives to the beast its food, And to the young ravens which cry.9He gives wild animals their food, including the young ravens when they cry.
He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.10He takes no delight in the strength of a horse, and gains no pleasure in the runner's swiftness.
The LORD favors those who fear Him, Those who wait for His lovingkindness.11But the LORD is pleased with those who fear him, with those who depend on his gracious love.
Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!12Glorify the LORD, Jerusalem! Praise your God, Zion!
For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your sons within you.13For he has strengthened the bars of your gates, blessing your children within you.
He makes peace in your borders; He satisfies you with the finest of the wheat.14He grants peace within your borders, satisfying you with the finest of wheat.
He sends forth His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly.15He sends out his command to the earth, making his word go forth quickly.
He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes.16He supplies snow like wool, scattering frost like ashes.
He casts forth His ice as fragments; Who can stand before His cold?17He casts down his ice crystals like bread fragments. Who can endure his freezing cold?
He sends forth His word and melts them; He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow.18He sends out his word and melts them. He makes his wind blow and the water flows.
He declares His words to Jacob, His statutes and His ordinances to Israel.19He declares his words to Jacob, his statutes and decrees to Israel.
He has not dealt thus with any nation; And as for His ordinances, they have not known them. Praise the LORD!20He has not dealt with any other nation like this; they never knew his decrees. Hallelujah!
