Let love of the brethren continue. | 1Let brotherly love continue. |
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. | 2Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. |
Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body. | 3Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. |
Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. | 4Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. |
Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," | 5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. |
so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?" | 6So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. |
Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. | 7Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. |
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. | 8Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. |
Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited. | 9Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. |
We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat. | 10We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. |
For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. | 11For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. |
Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate. | 12Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. |
So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach. | 13Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. |
For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come. | 14For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. |
Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. | 15By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. |
And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. | 16But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. |
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you. | 17Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. |
Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a good conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves honorably in all things. | 18Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly. |
And I urge you all the more to do this, so that I may be restored to you the sooner. | 19But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner. |
Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, | 20Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, |
equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. | 21Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. |
But I urge you, brethren, bear with this word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly. | 22And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words. |
Take notice that our brother Timothy has been released, with whom, if he comes soon, I will see you. | 23Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you. |
Greet all of your leaders and all the saints. Those from Italy greet you. | 24Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you. |
Grace be with you all. | 25Grace be with you all. Amen. |
