| 1Then the LORD said to Moses, "Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for under compulsion he will let them go, and under compulsion he will drive them out of his land." | 1Then the LORD said to Moses, "Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country." |
| 2God spoke further to Moses and said to him, "I am the LORD; | 2God also said to Moses, "I am the LORD. |
| 3and I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name, LORD, I did not make Myself known to them. | 3I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself fully known to them. |
| 4"I also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they sojourned. | 4I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners. |
| 5"Furthermore I have heard the groaning of the sons of Israel, because the Egyptians are holding them in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant. | 5Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant. |
| 6"Say, therefore, to the sons of Israel, 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. | 6"Therefore, say to the Israelites: 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. |
| 7'Then I will take you for My people, and I will be your God; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. | 7I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. | 8I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you for a possession; I am the LORD.'" | 8And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. | 9So Moses spoke thus to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses on account of their despondency and cruel bondage. | 9Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor. |
| 10Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, | 10Then the LORD said to Moses, |
| 11"Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the sons of Israel go out of his land." | 11"Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country." |
| 12But Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, "Behold, the sons of Israel have not listened to me; how then will Pharaoh listen to me, for I am unskilled in speech?" | 12But Moses said to the LORD, "If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips?" |
| 13Then the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, and gave them a charge to the sons of Israel and to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt. | 13Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. |
| 14These are the heads of their fathers' households. The sons of Reuben, Israel's firstborn: Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi; these are the families of Reuben. | 14These were the heads of their families: The sons of Reuben the firstborn son of Israel were Hanok and Pallu, Hezron and Karmi. These were the clans of Reuben. |

| 16These are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon and Kohath and Merari; and the length of Levi's life was one hundred and thirty-seven years. | 16These were the names of the sons of Levi according to their records: Gershon, Kohath and Merari. Levi lived 137 years. |
| 17The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei, according to their families. | 17The sons of Gershon, by clans, were Libni and Shimei. |
| 18The sons of Kohath: Amram and Izhar and Hebron and Uzziel; and the length of Kohath's life was one hundred and thirty-three years. | 18The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel. Kohath lived 133 years. |

| 25Aaron's son Eleazar married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas. | 26It was the same Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, "Bring out the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their hosts." | 26It was this Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, "Bring the Israelites out of Egypt by their divisions." |
| 27They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing out the sons of Israel from Egypt; it was the same Moses and Aaron. | 27They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt--this same Moses and Aaron. |
