NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,1Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
through whom we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of God's glory.2Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Not only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,3Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
and endurance, character, and character, hope.4and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,
And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 5and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.6For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
(For rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person perhaps someone might possibly dare to die.)7For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—
But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.8but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, because we have now been declared righteous by his blood, we will be saved through him from God's wrath.9Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, since we have been reconciled, will we be saved by his life?10For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
Not only this, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received this reconciliation. 11More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
So then, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all people because all sinned--12Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
for before the law was given, sin was in the world, but there is no accounting for sin when there is no law.13for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law.
Yet death reigned from Adam until Moses even over those who did not sin in the same way that Adam (who is a type of the coming one) transgressed.14Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.
But the gracious gift is not like the transgression. For if the many died through the transgression of the one man, how much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man Jesus Christ multiply to the many!15But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.
And the gift is not like the one who sinned. For judgment, resulting from the one transgression, led to condemnation, but the gracious gift from the many failures led to justification.16And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification.
For if, by the transgression of the one man, death reigned through the one, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ! 17For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
Consequently, just as condemnation for all people came through one transgression, so too through the one righteous act came righteousness leading to life for all people.18Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.
For just as through the disobedience of the one man many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of one man many will be made righteous.19For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.
Now the law came in so that the transgression may increase, but where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more,20Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
so that just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 21so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
