 | 1You godly ones, shout for joy because of the LORD! It is appropriate for the morally upright to offer him praise. | 1Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous ones; praise from the upright is beautiful. |
| 2Give thanks to the LORD with the harp! Sing to him to the accompaniment of a ten-stringed instrument! | 2Praise the LORD with the lyre; make music to Him with a ten-stringed harp. |
| 3Sing to him a new song! Play skillfully as you shout out your praises to him! | 3Sing a new song to Him; play skillfully on the strings, with a joyful shout. |
| 4For the LORD's decrees are just, and everything he does is fair. | 4For the word of the LORD is right, and all His work is trustworthy. |
| 5The LORD promotes equity and justice; the LORD's faithfulness extends throughout the earth. | 5He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the LORD's unfailing love. |
| 6By the LORD's decree the heavens were made; by a mere word from his mouth all the stars in the sky were created. | 6The heavens were made by the word of the LORD, and all the stars, by the breath of His mouth. |
| 7He piles up the water of the sea; he puts the oceans in storehouses. | 7He gathers the waters of the sea into a heap; He puts the depths into storehouses. |
| 8Let the whole earth fear the LORD! Let all who live in the world stand in awe of him! | 8Let the whole earth tremble before the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. |
| 9For he spoke, and it came into existence, he issued the decree, and it stood firm. | 9For He spoke, and it came into being; He commanded, and it came into existence. |
| 10The LORD frustrates the decisions of the nations; he nullifies the plans of the peoples. | 10The LORD frustrates the counsel of the nations; He thwarts the plans of the peoples. |
| 11The LORD's decisions stand forever; his plans abide throughout the ages. | 11The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation. |
| 12How blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen to be his special possession. | 12Happy is the nation whose God is Yahweh-- the people He has chosen to be His own possession! |
| 13The LORD watches from heaven; he sees all people. | 13The LORD looks down from heaven; He observes everyone. |
| 14From the place where he lives he looks carefully at all the earth's inhabitants. | 14He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth from His dwelling place. |
| 15He is the one who forms every human heart, and takes note of all their actions. | 15He alone shapes their hearts; He considers all their works. |
| 16No king is delivered by his vast army; a warrior is not saved by his great might. | 16A king is not saved by a large army; a warrior will not be delivered by great strength. |
| 17A horse disappoints those who trust in it for victory; despite its great strength, it cannot deliver. | 17The horse is a false hope for safety; it provides no escape by its great power. |
| 18Look, the LORD takes notice of his loyal followers, those who wait for him to demonstrate his faithfulness | 18Now the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him-- those who depend on His faithful love |
| 19by saving their lives from death and sustaining them during times of famine. | 19to deliver them from death and to keep them alive in famine. |
| 20We wait for the LORD; he is our deliverer and shield. | 20We wait for Yahweh; He is our help and shield. |
| 21For our hearts rejoice in him, for we trust in his holy name. | 21For our hearts rejoice in Him because we trust in His holy name. |
| 22May we experience your faithfulness, O LORD, for we wait for you. | 22May Your faithful love rest on us, Yahweh, for we put our hope in You. |
