You godly ones, shout for joy because of the LORD! It is appropriate for the morally upright to offer him praise. 1Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
Give thanks to the LORD with the harp! Sing to him to the accompaniment of a ten-stringed instrument! 2Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
Sing to him a new song! Play skillfully as you shout out your praises to him! 3Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.
For the LORD's decrees are just, and everything he does is fair. 4For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
The LORD promotes equity and justice; the LORD's faithfulness extends throughout the earth. 5He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.
By the LORD's decree the heavens were made; by a mere word from his mouth all the stars in the sky were created. 6By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
He piles up the water of the sea; he puts the oceans in storehouses. 7He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.
Let the whole earth fear the LORD! Let all who live in the world stand in awe of him! 8Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
For he spoke, and it came into existence, he issued the decree, and it stood firm. 9For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
The LORD frustrates the decisions of the nations; he nullifies the plans of the peoples. 10The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.
The LORD's decisions stand forever; his plans abide throughout the ages. 11The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
How blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen to be his special possession. 12Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
The LORD watches from heaven; he sees all people. 13The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
From the place where he lives he looks carefully at all the earth's inhabitants. 14From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.
He is the one who forms every human heart, and takes note of all their actions. 15He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.
No king is delivered by his vast army; a warrior is not saved by his great might. 16There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
A horse disappoints those who trust in it for victory; despite its great strength, it cannot deliver. 17An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
Look, the LORD takes notice of his loyal followers, those who wait for him to demonstrate his faithfulness 18Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
by saving their lives from death and sustaining them during times of famine. 19To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
We wait for the LORD; he is our deliverer and shield. 20Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.
For our hearts rejoice in him, for we trust in his holy name. 21For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
May we experience your faithfulness, O LORD, for we wait for you. 22Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
