For the music director; a song, a psalm. Shout out praise to God, all the earth! 1For the choir director. A song. A psalm. Shout joyfully to God, all the earth!
Sing praises about the majesty of his reputation! Give him the honor he deserves! 2Sing about the glory of His name; make His praise glorious.
Say to God: "How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power your enemies cower in fear before you. 3Say to God, "How awe-inspiring are Your works! Your enemies will cringe before You because of Your great strength.
All the earth worships you and sings praises to you! They sing praises to your name!" (Selah) 4All the earth will worship You and sing praise to You. They will sing praise to Your name." Selah
Come and witness God's exploits! His acts on behalf of people are awesome! 5Come and see the wonders of God; His acts for humanity are awe-inspiring.
He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. Let us rejoice in him there! 6He turned the sea into dry land, and they crossed the river on foot. There we rejoiced in Him.
He rules by his power forever; he watches the nations. Stubborn rebels should not exalt themselves. (Selah) 7He rules forever by His might; He keeps His eye on the nations. The rebellious should not exalt themselves. Selah
Praise our God, you nations! Loudly proclaim his praise! 8Praise our God, you peoples; let the sound of His praise be heard.
He preserves our lives and does not allow our feet to slip. 9He keeps us alive and does not allow our feet to slip.
For you, O God, tested us; you purified us like refined silver. 10For You, God, tested us; You refined us as silver is refined.
You led us into a trap; you caused us to suffer. 11You lured us into a trap; You placed burdens on our backs.
You allowed men to ride over our heads; we passed through fire and water, but you brought us out into a wide open place. 12You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but You brought us out to abundance.
I will enter your temple with burnt sacrifices; I will fulfill the vows I made to you, 13I will enter Your house with burnt offerings; I will pay You my vows
which my lips uttered and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble. 14that my lips promised and my mouth spoke during my distress.
I will offer up to you fattened animals as burnt sacrifices, along with the smell of sacrificial rams. I will offer cattle and goats. (Selah) 15I will offer You fattened sheep as burnt offerings, with the fragrant smoke of rams; I will sacrifice oxen with goats. Selah
Come! Listen, all you who are loyal to God! I will declare what he has done for me. 16Come and listen, all who fear God, and I will tell what He has done for me.
I cried out to him for help and praised him with my tongue. 17I cried out to Him with my mouth, and praise was on my tongue.
If I had harbored sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. 18If I had been aware of malice in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.
However, God heard; he listened to my prayer. 19However, God has listened; He has paid attention to the sound of my prayer.
God deserves praise, for he did not reject my prayer or abandon his love for me! 20May God be praised! He has not turned away my prayer or turned His faithful love from me.
