Psalm 48
NET Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
A song, a psalm by the Korahites. The LORD is great and certainly worthy of praise in the city of our God, his holy hill. 1A Song; a Psalm of the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, In the city of our God, His holy mountain.
It is lofty and pleasing to look at, a source of joy to the whole earth. Mount Zion resembles the peaks of Zaphon; it is the city of the great king. 2Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion in the far north, The city of the great King.
God is in its fortresses; he reveals himself as its defender. 3God, in her palaces, Has made Himself known as a stronghold.
For look, the kings assemble; they advance together. 4For, lo, the kings assembled themselves, They passed by together.
As soon as they see, they are shocked; they are terrified, they quickly retreat. 5They saw it, then they were amazed; They were terrified, they fled in alarm.
Look at them shake uncontrollably, like a woman writhing in childbirth. 6Panic seized them there, Anguish, as of a woman in childbirth.
With an east wind you shatter the large ships. 7With the east wind You break the ships of Tarshish.
We heard about God's mighty deeds, now we have seen them, in the city of the LORD, the invincible Warrior, in the city of our God. God makes it permanently secure. (Selah) 8As we have heard, so have we seen In the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish her forever. Selah.
We reflect on your loyal love, O God, within your temple. 9We have thought on Your lovingkindness, O God, In the midst of Your temple.
The praise you receive as far away as the ends of the earth is worthy of your reputation, O God. You execute justice! 10As is Your name, O God, So is Your praise to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness.
Mount Zion rejoices; the towns of Judah are happy, because of your acts of judgment. 11Let Mount Zion be glad, Let the daughters of Judah rejoice Because of Your judgments.
Walk around Zion! Encircle it! Count its towers! 12Walk about Zion and go around her; Count her towers;
Consider its defenses! Walk through its fortresses, so you can tell the next generation about it! 13Consider her ramparts; Go through her palaces, That you may tell it to the next generation.
For God, our God, is our defender forever! He guides us! 14For such is God, Our God forever and ever; He will guide us until death.
