| 1A song of ascents. Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion; it cannot be upended and will endure forever. | 1Those who trust in the LORD are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever. |
| 2As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, now and forevermore. | 2Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, both now and forever. |
| 3Indeed, the scepter of a wicked king will not settle upon the allotted land of the godly. Otherwise the godly might do what is wrong. | 3The wicked will not rule the land of the godly, for then the godly might be tempted to do wrong. |
