NET Bible | New Living Translation |
As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king-- | 1Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. |
I say this about the LORD, my shelter and my stronghold, my God in whom I trust-- | 2This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. |
he will certainly rescue you from the snare of the hunter and from the destructive plague. | 3For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. |
He will shelter you with his wings; you will find safety under his wings. His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall. | 4He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. |
You need not fear the terrors of the night, the arrow that flies by day, | 5Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. |
the plague that comes in the darkness, or the disease that comes at noon. | 6Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. |
Though a thousand may fall beside you, and a multitude on your right side, it will not reach you. | 7Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. |
Certainly you will see it with your very own eyes--you will see the wicked paid back. | 8Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. |
For you have taken refuge in the LORD, my shelter, the sovereign One. | 9If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, |
No harm will overtake you; no illness will come near your home. | 10no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. |
For he will order his angels to protect you in all you do. | 11For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. |
They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone. | 12They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. |
You will subdue a lion and a snake; you will trample underfoot a young lion and a serpent. | 13You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! |
The LORD says, "Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me. | 14The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. |
When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor. | 15When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. |
I will satisfy him with long life, and will let him see my salvation. | 16I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” |
