| 2Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. | 2May Israel rejoice in its Maker, and Zion's descendants in their King! |
| 3Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. | 3May they praise his name with dancing, chanting songs to him with tambourines and lyres. |
| 4For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. | 4For the LORD is pleased with his people; he beautifies the afflicted with salvation. |
| 5Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. | 5May those he loves be exalted, singing for joy on their couches. |
| 6May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, | 6Let high praises to God be heard in their throats, while they wield two-edged swords in their hands |
| 7to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, | 7as they bring retribution to nations and punishment to peoples, |
| 8to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, | 8binding their kings with chains, their officials with iron bands, |
| 9to carry out the sentence written against them-- this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the LORD. | 9and executing the judgment written against them. This is honor for all the ones he loves. Hallelujah! |
