When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him.1After he came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him.
A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."2And a leper approached, and bowed low before him, saying, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."
Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.3He stretched out his hand and touched him saying, "I am willing. Be clean!" Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Then Jesus said to him, "See that you don't tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."4Then Jesus said to him, "See that you do not speak to anyone, but go, show yourself to a priest, and bring the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."
When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.5When he entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him asking for help:
"Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly."6"Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, in terrible anguish."
Jesus said to him, "Shall I come and heal him?"7Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him."
The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.8But the centurion replied, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. Instead, just say the word and my servant will be healed.
For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."9For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to this one, 'Go' and he goes, and to another 'Come' and he comes, and to my slave 'Do this' and he does it."
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, "Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.10When Jesus heard this he was amazed and said to those who followed him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found such faith in anyone in Israel!
I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.11I tell you, many will come from the east and west to share the banquet with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,
But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."12but the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that moment.13Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go; just as you believed, it will be done for you." And the servant was healed at that hour.
When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.14Now when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying down, sick with a fever.
He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.15He touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she got up and began to serve them.
When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.16When it was evening, many demon-possessed people were brought to him. He drove out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick.
This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases."17In this way what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet was fulfilled: "He took our weaknesses and carried our diseases."
When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.18Now when Jesus saw a large crowd around him, he gave orders to go to the other side of the lake.
Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."19Then an expert in the law came to him and said, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."
Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."20Jesus said to him, "Foxes have dens, and the birds in the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
Another disciple said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."21Another of the disciples said to him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father."
But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."22But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."
Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.23As he got into the boat, his disciples followed him.
Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.24And a great storm developed on the sea so that the waves began to swamp the boat. But he was asleep.
The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"25So they came and woke him up saying, "Lord, save us! We are about to die!"
He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.26But he said to them, "Why are you cowardly, you people of little faith?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was dead calm.
The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"27And the men were amazed and said, "What sort of person is this? Even the winds and the sea obey him!"
When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.28When he came to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were extremely violent, so that no one was able to pass by that way.
"What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?"29They cried out, "Son of God, leave us alone! Have you come here to torment us before the time?"
Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding.30A large herd of pigs was feeding some distance from them.
The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs."31Then the demons begged him, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs."
He said to them, "Go!" So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.32And he said, "Go!" So they came out and went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep slope into the lake and drowned in the water.
Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.33The herdsmen ran off, went into the town, and told everything that had happened to the demon-possessed men.
Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.34Then the entire town came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.
